It's been a slow winter. I say that as if it winter was almost over, but we've still got over a month to go, and even that is no guarantee it will get warmer. The chill seeps through my skin and into my creative veins, freezing up the otherwise effortless circulation of passions. To fight the drift toward creative atrophy, I've been doing almost anything I can to force the sprouting, fragile melodies out of the musical soil. I've been collaborating some, playing lots of piano, playing with new recording equipment and software, studying the movements of the stars, and playing music for all to hear on college radio. That's right: every Tuesday from 4-6 pm, somebody had the guts to give me control of the airwaves (well, not all the airwaves...just one frequency with a fairly short range, but still...). Thus, I send through the air and the net whatever music I wish to connect with that particular moment. I'm still working on getting comfortable talking to anyone and/or no-one, live and not live at the same time, but it is certainly interesting to be working from a little radio booth, fighting the powers of corporate radio in my own, quiet way.
Two shows are coming up in the next month. The details will be on the show schedule shortly. One is a fundraising concert for tsunami victims (http://www.owu.edu/tsunami/ for more information) and the other is at the WEB Coffeehouse in lovely Yellow Springs, Ohio. I am looking forward to spring bringing new music, new venues, and hopefully a fresh opportunity to get back to playing shows more often. Look forward to seeing you again soon... |
